Thank you to everyone that worked with the Upper Darby Democratic Committee on Primary Election Day May 19.  The Delaware County endorsed candidates for Council (Keith Collins and Nancy Baulis) and Court of Common Pleas (Nancy Rhoads Koons) won their respective Democratic primaries.
 
In Upper Darby, many of you went where you were needed and helped Democratic voters in the 5th District successfully write in Alison Dobbins to be their 5th District Democratic Council candidate.  She (We) successfully fought off the Republican last minute write-in challenge of her opponent. 
Alison Dobbins won the Write-In contest easily, with a vote of 81 to 20
(All results are not final until certified by the county machine count, probably in the first week of June)
 
The Official Democratic candidates for Upper Darby Township in 2009 are:

School Director-Pam Maven is the lone Democratic Candidate
First District Council-Alex Brown       
Third District Council-David Schwartz
Fifth District Council-Alison Dobbins
Seventh District Council-Mary Battle   
At Large Council-Barbarann Keffer and Robert Cassidy
Township Treasurer-Al Achtert
Constable-John Furth had write-in votes to become the candidate.
 
This is just the beginning of the changes to come in 2009, for the Upper Darby Democratic Committee and Democrats all over the County and State of PA.  Our candidates will be working hard all summer to get our voters informed and involved.   After last year's big Democratic wins and so many new Democratic voters, this is OUR TIME to change how things are run in Upper Darby.

Come to the next Upper Darby Dems Campaign Meeting on Thursday, June 18 at the Watkins Senior Center, 326 Watkins Ave, Upper Darby 19082.  The meeting will start at 7:30PM and will concentrate on the next steps needed for our Upper Darby Candidates.
 
Join us on Sunday June 28 for our 3rd Annual Upper Darby Dems Summer Picnic. We will be at Naylors Run Park, at Grove 7 from 2:30PM-6:00PM. (on Garrett Rd in Upper Darby) 
 
Our Summer Pool Party FUNdraiser will be on Thursday August 20, details TBD
